Cold frozen northern Island sort of morning. Love how the light is "blue" at this time of day. Was so lucky to capture the moon still toddling across the sky.
"Slowly, silently, now the moon walks the night in her silver shoon." (Walter de la Mare 1873-1956)
"Eppur si muove......but it does move." (Gallileo Gallilel)
"Beautiful! Beautiful! Magnificent desolation!" (Buzz Aldrin.....on landing on the moon)

Wedding Cake Mountains
Pink Frosted Mountains......good enough to serve at a wedding......
""Fromone white cloud that hurries beneath the stars, whishpering over the black, unfrozen pool.
Silently falling on withered leaves, eddying slowly among bare boughs of trees.
The music you are to me is as ghostly as these...........
Softyly falling, softly passing,
Wandering softly on dreamless air."
( from "White Nocturne" by Conrad Aiken)
"Oh may be pure as the beautiful snow, and on life's page make sure, mark for truth, deep and low." ( from "The Snow" by Watie W. Swanzy)

Five Hour Snowstorm
Picture perfect snow......happened overnight, in five hours. About 4am I thought we were going to be buried. Thought these trees across the cul de sac were so incredible.
"As soon go kindle fire with snow, as seek to quench the fire of love with words."
( William Shakespeare)
Frosted trees at 6:30am
Good to play in the snow.................................
In the predawn twilight.........................
Buried fence and arbour..............
Lonely chair in predawn.....
Poor driveway....................too steep
Kind of reminds me of the tree of life. Thrushes and their friends roost here and get ready to feed in the morning.
"And finally Winter, with its biting , whining wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow."
(Roy Bean)

Under all that Cottonball Snow......
An hour ago it was just raining in Flannel City. Flannenonians were happily looking out rain boots and yellow slickers. All of a sudden, BOOM, that soggy rain turned to big, fluffy cottonballs of snow.
"A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water" ( Carl Reiner)
The bushes weighed down with freezing cottonballs.................................
"Don't knock the weather. Nine times out of ten people would start a conversation, if the weather did not change." (Kin Hubbard)
And look at this....underneath the peony bushes, hidden by the snow.....the first purple crocus ................................almost spring............................ ( I believe, I believe)
"Spring is when you feel like whistling, even when you have a boot full of slush." (Doug Larson)

Something Beautiful
Just could not resist these. Their colour is so soft, so beautiful.......lovely shade of amethyst, a very pale amethyst. No, it's not really spring yet......bi more of winter to go, but I am hopeful, aren't I? Spring is kind of around the corner. Guess until then I will just have to look at these tulips and wish.

Clouds and Mountains and Spring
Mt. Washington at sunset, bathed in rolling clouds.....one of the nicest days we have ever had.
Closeup of mountain swathed in cotton
Watched the clouds roll in and grab the tree line
Distance shot with the evening sky ...just starting to lose some light...about 5:30pm
Last of the sunlight.............very mild, compared to other parts of the country.
Must be spring, so says the groundhog....the first of the blood sedum group to pop out of the cold earth.

PeepingTom
Well, it's February, at last. Peeping Tom has come calling again. He loves to sit in the door window and tease our girl cats. They go wild when they see him...must be that Rock Star status.......reminds me that spring is coming. He is on the hunt for birdies, mostly, but loves to sit in the window for an hour here and there. Peeping Tom lives behind us, and I watch him sitting on the barbecue on the deck of his house, staring in at his people, so he comes by his peeping status, naturally.
