Lots of rain. It's so soggy here. Everything's wet. Soaked.
Yes, we live in a rain forest. But the rain brings slugs . Big gooshy ones that squish up the fence.
Fat ones that stuff themselves in the dirt, chomping away on green stuff.
The garden is ultra lush this year. Curry Plant and Foxglove and Lilies are loving it.
Rain beading on hostas...... like jelly.
Even Cordelia escapes the rain. Her fur is soaked. She hides on the porch, sleeping on the cushioned chairs. I know, cause there are numerous muddy paw prints splatted all over the seats. I don't think she's the only feline to hide there.
Everything will be soaked tomorrow, and the day after that. The weather man has happily assured us of that fact.
Rain or not, there are still overgrown bushes to prune and messies to make.In the sog. In the rain.

Friday at last
Buzzzzzzzz. It's Friday. Buzzzzzz.Goes the bee. Buzzzzzzzz. Go a lot of bees. On the lavender. It's a tad early this year. I will have to watch it carefully, because usually I'm harvesting it in June. The bees seem to have grown in number. They are very busy and very focused.
The butterfly lavender is prolific right now. I prefer to wait for the dark lavender. The kind that smells like shelf paper in an old house....strong and heady.
And the poppies are opening at last. Not pelted with rain, like last year. Sog and more sog. The poppies were practically destroyed within days of blooming. This year the centres look like anenomes, instead of mush. They even move in the wind instead of hanging with wet, torn petals.
The Columbine. It marches down the hill in groups. It tends to grow wildly here and there. Sporadic in its flowering, until this year. It was all but destroyed in the rain last May and June. Its colour washed out. This year dark violet against the green leaves.
And standing perfectly still, at last, are Smokey and Spencer. Naughty little kittens. I think they have lost their mittens........they tear around like fireflies, batting at moths and bees.

Everything slowing down to a lazy pace at last.......................

Antiqued and hand quilted
Three months later..........from dyeing the fabric with tea, stitching all the squares, filling, piecing and then sitting at the frame for about 4 weeks.........just love the look. I just love to quilt!
This is my front room, the music room, and the new quilt hanging on its wall....There is something about taking fabric and making it old....adds flavour. Can hardly wait to do it again....

August Garden in May......welcome to my park.
This is what it looks like, now, with Grey Cat as sentinel... and BELOW is what it looked like, ten days ago.......
And now, the weather has changed and it is turning into a park....
Anything and everything pink ,with a splosh of orange and hot pink....
From black and white......
And Spencer, lollygagging on the bench, in the morning sun.
Going up the steps to our house. Up the hill. Past lavender. Rosemary. Buddleia. All coming out now....
And my Shell windchimes tinkle at the side of the house. It's August in May. July, at least. Almsot time for Christmas........
