No Seed Pods to Plant....

"Time to repot  the cat...." -anon.
So, this is the weekend  to get  the  your potted flowers done.  I collected tags from most of the ones  I planted. Never again will I start seeds indoors, though. Half of them did not sprout. I had them in a great location, but the season was so cold and such low light that even being by a large window did not help. And as for the other half of the pods.....well.... the cats thought dirt pods were great fun to bat around.

I found it easier to turn them into cat toys, then into seedlings.
I did keep the tags for a lot of the flowers that were planted outside this year. NOT from seed, mind you, but from already well established packs. The thrill of wandering through  greenhouses and collecting already trailing flowers, that actually looked like a flower, was positively the best thing in the world.  I've kept a list.....not a complete list..... and see what does the best  now that the warm weather has  arrived.
SUN:  Thumbergia, Scabiosa Gelato Blueberry,White Geranium, Verbeena Tuscany Blue ( really good for butterflies and hummingbirds),Maverick Star Geranium, Tango Lavender Geranium, Maverick Scarlet Geranium, Sonata Pink Cosmos ( free flowering), Torenia Blue Moon ( good in baskets),Nemesia, Hurricane Pink Verbeena,New Guinea Impatiens, Euphorbia White Blast, Tango Hot Pink Geranium

 MY FAVOURITE GERANIUMS: Maverick Appleblossom
( flower heads of pink blush)  and Citronella (Scented geranium, blooms from Spring to Autumn. Good to bring indoors over winter)

IN HANGING BASKETS: Calibrachoa,Raspberry Verbeena, Donalena Blue Soul Verbeena,

MY FAVOURITE PETUNIA ( The only petunia I really like): Debonair BLACK Cherry. ( Actually a really dark purple that comes out black. Stunning)
FULL SUN /PART SHADE: Heliotrope Marine Blue,  Regatta Sapphire Lobelia ( as many as I could stuff into every pot that had some shade), Diascia Bold Pink, Ipomoea, Vinca Vine Maculata, Osteospermum, Impomoea Blackie, Lemon Licorice Helichrysum ( Very cool in hanging baskets)

SHADE/PART SHADE: Coleus Kong Jr Rose, Coleus Kong Salmon Pink, Elfin impatiens, Blue Mirage Fuchsia, Violet Impatiens, Coleus Kong Empire,

Dark Eyes Fuchsia , Southgate Fuschia ( marshmallow colouring)
Illumination Orange Begonia ( perfect for deep shade and protected from high winds), Lipstick Elfin Impatiens, Illumination Apricot Begonia.......

Not one  of those seed pods survived. Well, maybe a few....not sure what I did with them. Most ended up in the compost. The cats might have got hold of the last ones. I'll probably find them at Christmas, rolling around under the sideboard......
