Elk falls would no doubt have a bit of snow right now, but very slippery on the trails.
These were taken in early January.
When the falls were not surrounded by people.
And the pool still made foam in the chill air.
I think the best part of the falls, is the mist........
And fog that slides into the valleys.
“Not a hundred feet away the river roared over a cliff's-edge, and we weren't really leaves, even if I'd been careful to forget that.” ― Uprooted
Light, fog, mist. Almost better than the falls.
Then the creeping green carpet that is everywhere in the rain forest.
No wonder film makers want to film here.
"Look with open eyes and you will see the beauty of the waterfall..." -Anthony T. Hincks
Shaded trails with the waterfall carousing down into its pool......
Amazing to realize there are two dams upstream...
Amazing to curb to urge to jump into the water.
Amazing to think of the danger on the rocks. And still as amazing to see how beautiful it is in all seasons.
“We made our way to the very edge of the cliff and looked down. We could hear the water dashing, splashing and roaring as if angry at the small space through which it was forced to pass.” ― Diary of Sallie Hester
