NOT SO SECRET GARDEN

"I am writing in the garden. To write as one should of a garden one must write not outside it or merely somewhere near it, but IN the garden." -Frances Hodgson Burnett ( 1849-1924)
Well, not exactly the secret garden from the book,  but  it's my little oasis.
 And it's booming.
Dragons blood, anenome, climbing hydrangea,  sedums, have taken over the wall.
Verbeena, Rhubarb, Cranesbill (lots and lots and LOTS  of Cranesbill)
Geraniums everywhere, all starting to flower, and roses, just beginning....
"I am sure there is Magic in everything, only we have not sense to get hold of it and make it do things for us...."
-Burnett ( The Secret Garden 1911)
Alchemilla ( Lady's Mantle) at first light, drenched in the rain.
Busy bees. Feeding off the Cranesbill. Their bodies carrying  orange pollen.

 Abraham Lincoln Rose.
The Verbascum ( considered a huge weed by some) is Massive already. It will make giant sunflower stalks that the bees will sleep in.
"If you look, you can see right away that the whole world is a garden..." -Secret garden 1911
 Mauve Perennial Geranium
And lots of bees. BUZZ. This is good.
Maidenhair Fern. I thought it was dead. It's GIGANTIC.
Rain on it and it will come back.
"And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles...." -Secret  Garden 1911
And of course, it helps to  have Spencer  snoozing at the entrance......he blooms and blooms in the sun on the gate.

FRIDAY, it's all GOOD....

Friday. It's a good sort of day. Rain has come and gone.
Spencer is happy dancing on the fence.  To him, all Friday's are good.
But today is a special day.
I found something simple. Just a few lines, in one of my ancient poetry books. It's just beautiful and says a lot in 8 lines.....on a Friday as good as this.

"IN JUDEA"  by Mildred Bowers Armstrong
"The stars that looked on Joeseph......
The moon that Mary knew.......

Looked down on this Judean town......
The way they used to do........
 And this old tree remembers................

The lad who used to play.......
Upon these very shadows....................

                                                          Where I stand today......................."

Green things with Cats

More cats. And still more .......this is grey cat. He likes to sit in the strawberries.
 Blue with Green...............
Hostas are green.........coming up like crazy with all the rain.
Climbing hydrangea is green......all lazy and thick this year....
Grey cat still sits in my strawberries. Surveying.
 Lady's Mantle after the rain....green.
Greenhouse clematis...just opening up. Green with purple. A bit earlier than the outdoors one.
 Green with the cranesbill............
My green strawberries that Grey Cat likes so much.
From the backyard..............the mountain range in the distance.
Other side of the range........the one bit of sun we have had in days.
White Cat surveys Grey Cat surveying me, while he still sits in my strawberries.

New Things

Finally.......some blue sky....at last. Time to bounce up and down like the Energizer bunny! Boing! Boing! Boing! Haven't seen sky like this for eons.....and White Cat came calling again. She is bigger now....her tail is longer, and she is much poofier.
She likes to sit on the fence and watch the birds and the sky.
The Lady's Mantle has started up again.....just in the past few days.
White Cat watched while I crawled around in the dirt trying to find new things. She rowled at me happily. She looked like a cloud sitting on the fence.
Preen, Preen....we should all do this at least once....She matches the clouds in the sky. It was actually mild and warm today......for once. Boing! Boing!Boing!
Lungwort is pushing itself out through the ground.
                                                              White cat purred.........
Valley Fire Pirarrea ( not sure if that is spelt correctly)......making a show at last.
                                                     Hydrangeas starting as well.
                                             Many clouds .....white cat approves.
                                                             Viola
Clematis throws out shoots. Wow, must be spring.
