Sigmund Freud would say "Time spent with cats is never wasted". I agree......
Allen hummingbirds dive bomb when you sit on the bench. Territorial. Somewhat aggressive over the sugar water container hanging beneath the grape vines. Either that, or Cordelia is just a little too interested .
Under the watchful eye of Cordelia. Beautiful and aloof. She sniffs out the Allen hummingbirds and watches . Careful of their sharp , sword-like bills. On guard....
Though most would not be on guard at the beach. How it expands up and down the coast. Discovery Passage folding dreamily into the mountains.
Curious. Especially when you leave a loaf of banana blueberry bread on the bench. Just to let it cool. But not to leave. In ancient times, cats were worshipped as gods. I do not think they have forgotten this. Better remove the loaf. The cats might want that blueberry banana bread...
The Flickers torment them from on high. Rat-a-tat-tat-tat on the neighbours' pillars. Loud and long. Bang Bang Bang! Machine gun fire can't compare. Rat-a-tat-tat.....
Spencer hears it. Spencer knows all. "I love cats because I enjoy my home . Little by little they become its visible soul" ( Jacques Cousteau) Spencer is happy. He and his brother, Smokey are contagious. With happiness. And easy going lightness of being.
In Spencer's own little world , life consists of running around, sleeping in the sun, looking in the windows, chasing birds, entertaining the humans, and Snack.
Snack for a cat is like having a huge beach to play on. Listening to the cormorants argue for a place on the rocks.Wondering when they will next get their Snack.
Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for what they want in life. Like snack. One by one they come from their homes.Penguin comes. He snorts when he eats. It's hysterical. They all come from time to time. Only to stand at the glass doors. Look in. " I'm here. Halloooooo." Better answer that door. Be sure to have a snack ready.
