CHERRIES! From our tree.
And CHERRY CRISP.................not one of my favourite things in the world. I prefer the fruit just the way it is. But not enough cherries to preserve this year, because the trees were pruned hard in the fall.
CHERRY CRISP:
4 cups, or more ( I just kind of fill the 13x9 pan with pitted cherries)
1 cup sugar
4 tablespoons flour
Combine in baking pan. Turn on oven to 375 degrees. Swish a slosh of wine over the cherries.
COMBINE: 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup marg or butter, or not, depending on what you prefer. It's fine without the butter, etc.
Toss together. Then pile on top of the cherries in the baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for about an hour.
Needs some extra baking if the cherries are a little firm.
Cool. Serve with or without ice cream.
Then go back outside and pick the rest of the cherries. Yum.
