NEW THINGS

New things. New quilt. Donna's 30th anniversary quilt. Planned it for ages.Well, I tend to multi-task and plan a few quilts all at once.  This border fabric I ordered from Georgia. That was new for me. Have never done that before. It showed up in 5 days. Wow.  Border fabric is called "Sweet pea Abstract".  She opened it yesterday.
Lots of new things. Went to Courteany yesterday. Don't go very often. This time we went with purpose, to see Morgan cut and colour Dale's hair , at the hair academy she attends. She's on the home stretch. Beautiful drive. Ocean and farm fields most of the way.

Always more ocean, rocky shores, driftwood  staked into the beaches.Everywhere we go the salt in the air, the sog and damp.
"Ocean: a body of water occupying about 2 thirds of a world made for man.....who has no gills" (Ambrose Bierce)
Then back home  to haul out things from greenhouse.......things that are not new, but seem new, cause they've been waiting to be put back in their places. Like my wrought iron chair that has to be tied to its tree. So good to see it again. It's kind of falling apart. I may need to find another one. It gets a lot of use. May have to tie a new one back to back with it.

 And new hair...............at last.
More new things: Qquilt for my friend Susan, in Nanaimo, B.C. Simple runner, but fresh and good.Colours muted with lavender and rose.
Oh, I forgot about the The Snow Geese. Feeding in farmers' fields. Never get tired of seeing them return. Fields soggy with melted snow and rain. Geese love that. Poodling about in the  drench, snuffling for yummy things. I'm glad someone or something likes the sog.......
"If you're in the middle of the ocean with no flippers and no life preserver, and you hear a helicopter, this is music. You have to adjust to your needs at the moment." (T. Waitts)

I guess At some moment in time I figured I needed a shiny  door knob chime, that jingles like spurs, and glitters like Zsa Zsa Gabors diamond rings............
Also needed a new hummingbird feeder. New food for them. Now I wait to see if they will show themselves. Come on, where areeeee yooouuuuu. I know you're watching me.They hide on the other side of the fence, in the hydrangea bushes.
The deer, do NOT hide. They are not new. At least, these two are not. They are here every night. But this one morning, one of them looked up through the window. That was new.  They stand on the hill watching the sunrise ( or so I like the think). They stand and chew. And chew.

The sunrise comes quickly these days. That is new. The mountain shrouded in clouds and fog.
And a third new quilt . For Tennille in Edmonton. Quilts are amazing. They are always new. Always different.Fresh. Music dancing across the fabric. Kind of like the waves dancing at Stories Beach......

"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the ocean, whether it is to sail or sit and watch, we are part of it." ( John  F.  Kennedy)
