My little bit of earth.......

"One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides...."-W.E.Johns (The Passing Show)
My little bit of earth is changing little by little.Redoing the beds was the best thing I have  tried in a long time. Of course, I haven't razed them myself, hired a group of garden people to dig and delve. I just plant  and dig worms out of the compost. Wriggle. Wriggle. Wriggle....
Once they completed the top terraces, I  found myself scurrying away ( like the worms) to the greenhouse where I could drool over perennials.
I chose all different perennials that I had never planted before. Would be a shame to have new dirt and just repeat the same plants. Where's the fun in that?
I started with Wall Cress. Likes the sun. Like Spencer-from-the-hill.
Who on many days now can be seen sprawled across the garden gate. Basking.
And Howard. He comes. Minus his horns these days.  He's quite unimpressed by all the changes. He just likes the bird seed.
But I am very glad of the new dirt. Planted Alyssum, Kent Beauty Oregano, Lithodorn....
Climbing Double Clematis near the back fence. Hoping it will grow and climb over the fence at some point.
And native Cranesbill, Larkspur, Moss Phlox......beautiful Beebalm as well.
More sun worshippers than I have seen in a long time.
Creeping raspberry, Giant Astolat, Lavender Budleja, Black Knight Delphinium
In the shade, by the house, and under the Fruit trees: King Fern, Japanese Tassel Fern, Autumn Fern, Western Sword Fern.........I LOVE ferns. Can't have enough of them.
And Howard....well, Howard comes every day. He chews bird seed. He just watches a lot. He gets a lot of seeds on his nose. It makes him sneeze. NEXT it will be to get the Garden Crew to take down the overgrown patio ....used to be an english pavement garden. Now, it's a mess...hoping to see a transformation ......but that's for another blog.
