LINGER in the GARDEN there....

TO ANY READER by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)
From "A Child's Garden of  Verses 1885"
(Dedicated to his nurse Alison Cuningham, who cared for him in his childhood)
As from the house your mother sees you playing around the garden trees
So you may see, if you will look
Through the windows of this book,
                                                                                         Another child, far, far away,
                                                           And in another garden, play.
But do not think you can at all,
By knocking on the window, all that child to hear you.
He intent is all on his pay-business bent.
He does not hear; he will not look,
Nor yet be lured out of this book.
For, long ago, the truth to say,
He has grown up and gone away,
And it is but a child of air
That lingers in the garden there..................

LET me Be....

LET ME BE A STAR    (Helen Hoyt 1887-1972) (excerpts)
Let me be a star that shines over you.
Let me be a cloud that floats by you
Let me be a mist that rests on the mountain's peak
Do you feel the soft touch of the mist?
I have leaned my head down over you

As the moon leans on the mountain
I have let fall the folds of my hair to cover your head
I have folded my hair about you
as the scarves of a cloud
Winding the brow of the mountain
O mountain I am the follower you called to come,
I am the wanderer and you stayed my footsteps
I saw you from far away, a blue horizon
You called me from desert spaces to the cool of your shadow
As a seed on the wind I was blown, as a bird on spent wings I have come
Now I rest in your sheltering rock

ANCIENT ONES

"The smiles of ancient souls that bless this, and urge us to live and learn.." -Scott Hastie

No voices here.  I stand on hallowed ground.

Sinking  in sands hide the ashes lost
A thousand years  have seen of Your God
to mourn  His peace
"The ancient and the modern blended together in haunting harmony..." -Zita Steele
And  no one is here… to see you now

And   dust to dust. Golden  Kings, shatter Rose, into stone

Ancient ones are Lost and  gone,  stars they  knew will live again…..
Dark the  skies they weep lament  for you

In  ash for ev-er sl-eep.

"So we found ourselves in an ancient place, the very air bound by chains.." -Laura Kasischke
No faces here. No foot steps echo far. Light of the sand

                                 in the burn-ing gold

I feel you here,  your eyes in the night, You see my heart

And fading  the sun is  lost to us....... shatters glass
"I can see clouds a thousand miles away,  hear ancient music in the pines...." -Ikkyu
