"I love tranquil solitude and such society as is quiet, wise and good." (Percy B. Shelley)
I think he was talking about the cool shady space that is the bench under the grapes. When I DO sit down, it is there......
Buddleia.....huge this year....dark blue. More blue than other years. Has to be the fertilizer I threw all over. It is planted by the stairs, and I've had to cut it back so people can get by.
Purple Lilies. Huge this year. Last year they just withered away in the wet. I think I like these lilies best....a photo doesn't really do them justice. They are more like mottled eggplant..
Didn't give fertilizer to the ferns. But they're HUGE anyways...have had to cut them back so the Heads can breathe.
"Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we are put into this world to rise above." (Katherine Hepburn)
Love Katherine Hepburn. Not sure what she would say if she saw my greenhouse.....everything is HUGE this year..
The Rhodochiton is behaving itself exactly as it should..overflowing and purple bells all over.
"Sowe Carrets in your Gardens, and humbly praise God for them, as for a singular and great blessing." (Richard Gardinar b 1533..english writer)
And the tickseed is poofing up everywhere. This poor Head looks like he is snorting the yellow flowers.............
"The gardener does not love to talk, he makes me keep the gravel walk; and when he puts his tools away; he locks the door and takes the key...." (R. L. Stevenson)
....And of course, then there's Spencer. He and his brother, Smokey, come to visit every day to supervise. What could be better?
"Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for what you want."
(J. W. Krutch, 1893-1970, American naturalist)
