The Christmas Pageant. Third Sunday in Advent. The Advent of Joy. The Pageant we have all been in at one time or other, or have played for, or sewn costumes, or helped shepherd kids onstage. Or stood at the side and worked the sound system. Every year it is the same. And every year it does not grow old. The candles are lit. The kids are ready in their costumes, and the narrators stand ready. Poised to enlighten us once again......
Lighting of the third candle signifies Joy. And the light of the world.
Joy is the celebration. Little angels. Big angels. Joy is contagious.
Joy is when the angels sang: "Glory to God in the highest."
What better way to celebrate.
What better way to dream and believe. Watch the light shine in your world. And when the candles are snuffed out at the end of the day, we will dance and sing and shout for joy. Just like the kids in the Christmas Pageant, who showed us that Light is coming into the world.
