Shoes in the Snow....

 End of winter. Beginning of spring. Found one of my favourite winter poems......just had to share. I would like a pair of shoes like this.......
             VELVET SHOES by Elinor Wylie (1885-1928).
                 From "1000 Beautiful Things", 1948. My favourite poetry collection.....
 She was considered the most beautiful imagery writer of the time.  Her father was Henry Hoyt, governor general from 1903-1909. She herself was a tall, dark haired beauty, had a few husbands ( I kind of lost count just how many, when I was reading ), and a lot of success as a writer. ( The Orphan Angel, 1926, Angels and Earthly Creatures, 1929, etc)
 Let us walk in the white snow in a soundless space,
 With footsteps quiet and slow,
 At a tranquil pace, under veils of white lace.
 I shall go shod in silk, and you in wool,
 White as a white cow's milk.
 More beautiful than the breast of a gull.
 We shall walk through the still town in a windless peace;
 We shall step upon white down,
 Upon silver fleece,
 Upon softer than these.
 We shall walk in Velvet Shoes;
 Wherever we go
 Silence will fall like dews
 On white silence below. We shall walk in the snow.
