Burnt Orange Sun

"The sun burnt every day. It burnt time..."
                                  - Ray Bradbury (Farenheit 451)
Sun rose today. Like a burnt orange.
The sky a weird kind of creamsicle colour.
 The air stank of smoke.
Not too strong. But it smelled of a thousand trees.
Dark patches over the sun ; smoke moving  here and there.
On an ordinary day with ordinary sun, molecules  go every which way.
These molecules move the blue light that radiates from the sun, and turns the sky blue.
When it's sunrise or sunset, the light goes thru the haziest, thickest part of the atmosphere.
All the colours of the prism  are banished at this point. Leaving sun to look orange or red. Hence the burnt orange look.
Fire just makes it worse....this is the sun as it rises higher in the sky. Takes on a clearer yellowy quality.
The fires in B.C. are making for incredible shots. Taking it's toll on people, animals and land. We had a good downpour yesterday. But the smoke and hazy orange light keeps on coming.....
