HOT HOT HOT

"I say, it's so hot, the hens are picking up the worms with potholders..." -Foghorn Leghorn
It's so hot the cats are flopping.
The last of the roses wilt
 Cosmos drips sweat
 Dahlias dangle on their stalks.
"Life was beginning over again in the summer...." -F. Scott Fitzgerald
 Daisies wilt.
 Dragon's blood does NOT.
On the greenhouse you can hear the crackle of Cordelia's paddy paws.
Bees sleep in the Verbascum. The flower heads hum.
"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability..." -Sam Keen
The kids on the hill scream in delight when they are given melting popsicles in the heat of day.
 Fire pits are lit.
Dogs bark at the air. Crows dive bomb the bird bath. I think they're playing "chicken"....
"I almost wish we were butterflies...." - Keats
And way over there, somewhere, there is a comet.
But for now  all that can be heard are people talking, some singing, some laughing and splooshing buckets of cold water  over themselves....... cause it's hot hot hot......
"Weather forecast for tonight...Dark..." -George Carlin
