ABOVE and BELOW

"It snowed and snowed, the whole world over,
Snow swept the world from end to end."
-  Boris Pasternak, Dr. Zhivago
ABOVE. At Mt. Washington it has snowed. Looks like marshmallow topping.
But Below. Not so much.  0 Celsius ( 32 F) with a chance of frost. Just a chance, mind you. Maybe a few whiffs of deer poop wafting across the yard.
Rain. rain and more rain. In this rain forest.Wind. Birds can still get their feet wet.
"The shroud of grey, and the silence that comes with fog."
- Om Malik

Fog. Of course. Lots of it. Like living in "The Hound of the Baskervilles".
And Above. Cloudy with a chance of deep sunsets over the mountains.
Which will clear. And show clean and crisp. My front yard view. Every morning.
"He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter."
                            - John Burroughs

Also part of the mountains that show in my front yard every day. Not as much snow as in previous years. But winter isn't done yet.
From the range to the Island trails below. Where it is grey and trees stick out like so  many toothpicks.
Here below. Cloudy, with a chance of rising rivers. Mud. Sog. Deer jellybeans strewn across the paths...... and a hint of frost to tease.Just a tad , mind you.
"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape. Something waits beneath it; the whole story doesn't show." - Andrew Wyeth
