SOMETHING TOLD the WILD GEESE

This most glowing  time of year. The geese are overhead every day. Strings and strings of them.  Reminds me of my absolute favourite poem by Rachel Field "Something told the Wind Geese"...

"Something told the wild geese it was time to go.
Though the fields lay golden something whispered, "snow".......

"Leaves were green and stirring, berries,luster-glossed, something cautioned , "frost"......
"All the sagging orchards steamed with amber spice...."
"But each wild breast stiffened at remembered ice. Something told the wild geese it was time to fly, summer sun was on their wings, winter in their cry."
Also means hide and go seek with Spencer and Cordelia...
Also means  grapes have to be harvested, and Cordelia of the Grapes will lose her leaves.                      And it means candles, warmth, and light.......
